PnL Calculator

What This Tool Does

The PnL Calculator is designed to give you a clear picture of a trade's outcome before you execute it. It takes into account the complexities of leverage and exchange fees, which are often overlooked by mental math.

It answers the critical question: "If I buy at $X and sell at $Y with Z leverage, exactly how much money will I make?"

How to Use It Step by Step

  1. Entry Price: Enter the price at which you plan to open your position (Long or Short).
  2. Exit Price: Enter your target price for taking profit or your stop-loss price.
  3. Position Size: Input the amount of capital you are investing. You can toggle between USDT (margin amount) or Asset Units (e.g., amount of BTC).
  4. Leverage: Adjust the slider or input field to match your exchange settings (e.g., 5x, 10x).
  5. Fees: Enter the percentage charged by your exchange. Standard taker fees often range from 0.05% to 0.1%.
  6. Calculate: Improvements happen in real-time or upon clicking the button. View your Gross PnL, Net PnL, and ROI.

Example Calculation

Scenario: Long ETH/USDT

  • Entry: $3,000
  • Exit: $3,300 (+10% move)
  • Margin: $1,000
  • Leverage: 5x

Result:

  • Position Value: $5,000
  • Gross Profit: $500 (10% of position)
  • Fees (est 0.1%): ~$10 (on open+close)
  • Net PnL: ~$490
  • ROI: ~49%

Common Mistakes

  • Confusing Margin with Position Size: Remember that with 10x leverage, your position size is 10 times your margin. Fees are charged on the position size.
  • Ignoring Funding Rates: For perpetual futures, holding a position open can incur funding fees every 8 hours, which this calculator does not currently estimate.
  • Stop Loss Placement: Always ensure your stop loss is not exactly at the liquidation price.

Position Size Calculator

Risk Management First

Professional trading isn't about how much you can make, but how much you can lose. The Position Size Calculator helps you determine exactly how much crypto to buy so that you never risk more than a fixed percentage (e.g., 1% or 2%) of your portfolio on a single trade.

How It Works

Input your Risk Amount (the max dollars you are willing to lose), your Entry Price, and your Stop Loss. The calculator determines the maximum position size you can take. If your stop loss is hit, you lose exactly your risk amount, preserving your capital for the next trade.

Liquidation Price Calculator

Avoid Getting Wrecked

In futures trading, liquidation occurs when your margin is insufficient to cover your losses. The Liquidation Calculator estimates the exact price at which your position will be forcibly closed by the exchange.

Knowing this level is critical for placing emergency stop-losses. This tool assumes an isolated margin calculation logic common to most major exchanges.

Futures Profit Calculator

Projecting ROE

Similar to the PnL calculator but focused on Return on Equity (ROE). This tool helps you visualize how leverage multiplies your returns. It's perfect for quick "what-if" scenarios: "If I use 20x leverage and the price moves 2%, what is my ROE?" (Answer: 40%).

Spot Grid Profit Calculator

Automating Volatility

Grid trading profits from market fluctuation within a set range. This tool estimates your total investment required and potential profit per grid.

  • Grid Quantity: The number of buy/sell orders. Higher quantity means smaller profits more frequently.
  • Range: The Min and Max price between which the bot operates.

DCA Plan Calculator

Dollar Cost Averaging

DCA is a strategy of investing a fixed dollar amount at regular intervals, regardless of the price. This mitigates the risk of buying the "top". Use this tool to plan your accumulation phase: input your total target investment, duration, and frequency to see exactly how much you need to set aside per week or month.

Risk/Reward Calculator

Is the Trade Worth It?

The Risk/Reward (R:R) Ratio compares your potential profit to your potential loss. A ratio of 1:3 means you risk $1 to make $3.

Generally, professional traders look for setups with an R:R of at least 1:2. This tool takes your Entry, Target, and Stop Loss to instantly calculate your ratio and tell you if the trade setup is mathematically sound.
